In conjunction with the fact that I'm in cubs again and the fact that my boss is on a stupid diet and the fact that I am over weight, I have henceforth decided to mock my boss and improve my health by starting a walking program.
Or as it would be more correctly called an ambulatory fitness regime. Hmm... That sounds like I plan to over throw the world by walking. A daring plan indeed!
Anyway, at my heaviest, I was once 295 pounds. For those of you living in metric worlds this is roughly 134 kilograms. For those of you living in the middle ages, that's roughly 21 stone. That was a year or so ago. However, I quickly got annoyed with being that heavy and I pretty much cut out junk food from my eating. Notice I do not say I stopped eating junk food completely. I'm not masochistic. However, instead of eating it every day, I now eat it once or twice a month.
Because I'm on medications, I go see my doctor every three months to refill my prescriptions. While I'm there, I weigh myself and he charts it. On average, cutting out the junk food has made me lose about ten pounds every three months. That's a little less than a pound a week. Which compared to what's being trumpeted out there is nothing. However, my weight, such as it is, a year later is consistently stable. I'm still over weight, but I haven't gained back any of the weight I've lost thus far.
And that's just from cutting out regular junk food eating. No special diet. No exercise. Just cutting back on the junk food group.
Now that my boss has started this ridiculous diet, I feel the need to provide balance by going in the other direction. She's touting this diet as the best thing ever. Never mind that she's only been on it a few days. So I've decided since the weather is getting warmer, I'll start walking again. We'll see who crosses the finish line.
