Yawwwn...

Slept badly. It's so fucking hot here! Why didn't someone mention the fact that it would be a billion degrees. Wondering if we're going to survive for the rest of the holiday.

Woke up at 7:30am and lay with my head out the window waiting for Viccy to wake up. I think Viccy gave me her cold. How generous of her. Trying to wake Viccy up as it is getting to be after 8am. Wonder why the clock didn't alarm.

It's now 8:30am. We're going to the British Museum today. If I don't die of heat stroke first.

The day continues...

Nice breakfast as usual. Headed out at about 9:30am. Took the tube. Not too crowded but still HOT!

Got off at Tottingham station and walked to Tottingham Court Street to Bloomsbury and the museum was right there. Gods! It's huge!

They have an grassy area out front the museum that has concrete benches for sitting. And they have litter boxes built right into the benches so no excuse for littering. Good idea!

The roof of the museum is supported by massive columns. Reminds me of the Greecian or Roman ones. You can see how they're pieces that are fitted together not one huge piece of stone.

There are also charred areas where big chunks of stone are missing. Apparently, it's from the time when London was bombed. After the war, the owners of the museum decided not to fix the damage so that the building could stand as a reminder.

I've often said that I was fortunate to be born into this period of time. I'll say it again. I'm glad to be born into a time and a place where I don't know what it sounds like to have bombs dropping all around and I don't have to live in fear of my life.

Anyway, Galadriel moment passed.

It's nicely laid out inside. Each section is a different country and time period. Everything is clearly marked. THIS is the way Madam Tussaud's should have been. Wankers...

Lots of statues and pottery and the usual museum pieces. We spent some time in the Egypt section. I took pictures of the man headed gate guards, Baset, some of the more famous Egyptian gods and some of the animals.

Went through the rooms with the mummies. Apparently they have sent Tutenkamen back to Egypt. Was happy about that. Saw the usual mummy stuff. Felt really weird about seeing the mummies. Again with the descration thingy.

Again my feet are killing me. Not to mention I'm coughing and blowing my nose like crazy. I'm not sure I'm having a good time. It's almost on the border of torture.

Again we only managed to work through one floor. The museum has six levels but my feet are just not in any shape to continue. Wah. Will have to come back here when I'm in better health and revisit this place and the V&A museum.

On the way to some bookstore Viccy wants to go to, we stop at this little pub called the Goose. Thank the Gods. I'm about to keel over.

Ordered their burger meal. The burger was NOT beef. It was ground up something but NOT beef. Vicy thought it was disgusting but I didn't think it was that bad. Just goes to show I'll eat anything :)

Viccy left to go to the bookstore and I waited at the Goose because I couldn't walk one step further. While I waited, I got to share the table with a man who sat drinking a pint of beer and two ladies who quickly realized they were sitting in the wrong section.

Viccy has returned. She was gone for about half an hour but she didn't find the bookshop. Bummer.

We walked back to Tottingham station and caught the tube back to Paddington. Stopped at our little shoppe and bought some more bottled water. Then back to the hotel where we saw our cute host checking someone else in.

Am boiling as usual.

Slept some. Which is really bad since I won't sleep went Viccy goes to bed. Woke up when Viccy came back with her dinner.

Is still freaking hot! Gah. Viccy ate her Indian food and I tried to cool down. Not much luck.

Viccy is reading and I'm catching up on my journal while sticking my head out the window in an effort to avert spontaneous combustion.
