Day 33 - Same Shit Different Day

wolfsbrideSo, I don't know if anyone remembers but the place I'm living in is a co-op, which, TECHNICALLY means that everyone contributes to the whole. Kinda like communism. AND WE ALL KNOW HOW WELL THAT WORKS, RIGHT?!?!??!
So anyway, I'm on this committee. I'm the secretary. I'm SUPPOSED to just take minutes. But our committee is made up of a bunch of lazy bastards so the chair person and I usually end up having to do a lot of extra work. Last month we had a pretty decent turn out because we hadn't had a meeting since October. The chair mentioned at that meeting that she would be assigning people tasks.
Guess how many people showed up to this month's meeting. Go on guess! I'll wait. *whistles* If you said less than how many showed up last month, you'd be right! One person showed up JUST TO TELL US SHE WOULDN'T BE COMING. Because she has a doctor's note. So she says. I felt like saying, well! Since you're already here anyway, why not STAY!
So now we have FIVE people that are on long term excused from meetings because of doctor's note's. Can you see my scepticism? We have seventeen members on our committee. That's twenty nine percent. That's ridiculous. I think we should make people provide proof of these doctor's notes.
In my opinion, unless your doctor's note, says you're totally bedridden or paralysed or something equally dire, you can BLOODY WELL STILL DO STUFF, even if you don't come to the meetings. We have a lot of tasks that just involve sitting down and making calls. All of these people that are home during the day watching TV could be doing these things. They're the first people to babble about how the committee needs to do more, but DON'T ASK THEM TO DO ANYTHING! They're also the first to have an excuse of why THEY can't be the ones to do something. If that's the case, I think they should be booted from the committee. I mean, we wouldn't want to ENDANGER anyone's HEALTH, now would we!
