Day 28 - Are We There Yet?
Jan. 28th, 2010 09:10 pmHonestly, I'm ready for this year to be over.
Anyway, spoke to the nice lady at the government today. When I told her that the bank had absconded with my funds in their name in spite of the fact that I had a payment schedule with them she was horrified. She was all OH NOES! They weren't supposed to do that! Let me see if they've already sent out the funds. If they haven't, I can call them and have the put the money back in your account!
A few minutes pass while she checks. Then she returns.
Alas. My money has left the building.
Her: Uhm... I guess you're paid in full and then some!
Me: Well, that's all fine and good but now I have no money and now you have post dated cheques from this account, the first of which will bounce because I have no money there!
Her: Um... Well, its too late to get it back now. But your accounts are unfrozen. Is there any way you can put enough in there to cover that first cheque.
Me: I guess I can ask for an early payment.
Her: That's great! So what you need to do is put enough in there to cover that cheque and then call me when the cheque clears. I'll start the paperwork to send your other cheques and excess funds back because now we don't need them. (Because now they have MORE MONEY THAN THEY SHOULD >_>)
Me: Okay. I guess that'll have to do.
Her: Oh by the way. The process will take a few weeks so the second cheque might clear as well but for sure by then we'll have it all straighten out!
Me: Uh. Great. Thanks???
And do you know WHY the bank yanked my money instead of just lifting the hold? THE LETTER OF WITHDRAWAL WAS BADLY WRITTEN!!!! This from the MOUTH OF THE GOVERNMENT ITSELF. I guess when you're in government, you don't have to communicate properly with people. After all, it's not YOUR lifesavings you're messing with.
So, to sum up.
Good News: Rent cheque won't bounce!
Bad News: Double payments for everyone since I missed my January payments. I'm going to have to sit down and figure out how much over time I'll have to work in order to get caught up again. I'm just glad it's over. Now I just have to deal with the fall out.
