Day 190 - So Much For A Quiet Day
Jul. 9th, 2010 11:31 pmIt started off okay. My boss was out and the co-worker was off so I had the office to myself. The phone, for a change, was not ringing off the hook. I was puttering along getting stuff done and all was happy in the land. I should have known it could not last.
About 4:15pm, my boss called. Are you SURE you don't want to go to dinner tonight??? I've been trying to wean her off our Friday evening meals out because even though it's SUPPOSED to be for BUSINESS purposes, we talk about business for maybe two minutes and the rest is her babbling about herself. Fun fun. So in the morning I had said that I didn't want to go out. Hence the afternoon wheedling.
So after listening to her whine for five minutes, where she said stuff like oh we can go some place close! We won't be gone long! Etc, I cautiously said, where did you want to go? Oh, I feel like Chinese! Let's go to the Continental Seafood House!
Yeah, I see where this is going. It's my turn to pay and the Seafood House is EXPENSIVE. So in rebuttal, I said, why don't we go to the Luck Joy. It's also close and the food will be half the price. She didn't want to do that.
This from the woman who complains endlessly about her daughter making her pick up the tab when they eat out to dinner i.e. expensive meals while she pays for the lunches, which are naturally cheaper. Oh gee, I WONDER who her daughter inherited THAT from.
