wolfsbride: (pissed wolf)
Today my boss and I went to deliver a Christmas basket to a couple of friends and as we're driving there my boss, for some hitherto unknown reason on the DAY BEFORE she's to go away, when she has A BILLION AND ONE things to do, says... oh I know we usually go the other way but I'm going to go this way today because it's faster. Fair enough. But then she says... but I never go this way because I always miss the turn off.

*facepalm*. So NATURALLY, we MISS THE TURN OFF...and end up heading toward the next city (Surrey, for the two people who know where I am). So I'm like... why don't you find some place to pull over and I'll look at the map, because I'm SENSIBLE LIKE THAT. My boss, however, is insane and she's all, no no I know how to get back and SHE PULLS A U TURN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREE WAY! As she's doing this she mutters something about how if the cops catch us she doesn't give a damn. Very quietly I say; If the cops catch us, at least we could ask for directions.

Fortunately, it was early enough, there wasn't much traffic and we hadn't gone too far down the free way, so she was able to execute said manoeuvre without killing us or someone else. So we go back a ways and she takes another turn off. Now we're heading to another city (New Westminster, for the two mentioned above). I don't even bother bringing up the map thing again. When my boss gets like this, it's best to duck and cover and wait for her to realize she's made a huge mess and then try to deal with the fall out afterwards.

When she realizes we're going the wrong way again, that we're in fact heading over a bridge when we don't want to be, she THROWS THE CAR INTO REVERSE AND BACKS UP until we're at the turn off again. From here, she goes straight. Now we're no longer heading over the bridge but we're still nowhere near we need to be so FINALLY she says... why don't you get out the map.

Fine. However, I hate her car because it's made for a midget (no offence to any midgets who should read this), which she is and not for someone my size, though I'm not that tall. So I'm wedged into the front seat with my knees practically against the dashboard balancing a Christmas basket whilst trying to open and read a map. Fun fun.

Before I can actually get a handle on where we are, she finds a little area to turn around and does so, badly I might add. So now we're heading away from where we don't want to be at least. We drive for a bit and suddenly we're heading back to Richmond (that's where we started for those of you that don't know). We take the exit we NORMALLY would have taken if my boss hadn't decided to be a complete moron and we get to said friends in like ten minutes. WHICH IS WHAT IT USUALLY TAKES. Not the forty five minute debacle that actually happened.

To conclude: As we're pulling into our friends' parking lot, my boss says.... Don't tell them we got lost!

Seriously, I thought the STRAIN OF NOT ROLLING MY EYES WOULD MAKE THEM FALL OUT OF MY HEAD. I calmly observe: I'm pretty sure they're going to know we got lost. We said we'd be there in fifteen minutes; it's now an hour later.

My boss' response? HMPH!
