Okay, yes. It's too early for the Ides of March but whatever! IT'S MARCH!!!! In three weeks it will be Spring! I hope. Considering the amount of snow we got at the end February, I'll believe it when I see it.
So! An update since I haven't posted anything since January 27th.
Health
Blood Pressure
- LALALALALA!!! As of last night my palpitations are back. Three times. Not good. When I talked to my doctor earlier in the month, he suggested doubling up on my Diovan and taking the second dose just before bed. Actually, the conversation went like this:
Me: I'm having trouble with palpitations. They wake me out of a sound sleep around 3:30 - 4:00am and my blood pressure goes up to 190/145 at that time.
Doc: Hey! That reminds me! I was reading a study where 90% of heart attacks occur in the early morning hours, around 4am!
Me: O_O! I will never sleep again!
Anyway, the double dose is working, but slowly. I chart my blood pressure every time I take it but I've been thinking that I'll start writing down other things too. There's got to be something that's triggering it. I still think it's the new water pill.
Asthma
A couple of weeks ago, I had my pulmonary stress test. It was the same guy I've had before.
Me: Sooo, is it just you working here, or do they not let you go on vacation, then?
Tech: HAHAHAH!!! Yeah, I couldn't believe it when I saw your name. Maybe one day you'll get Wendy.
Note: I've had this tech for all three of my stress tests.
We had a nice chat while he was testing me and in the chatting it came up that I grew up in Barbados. He then told me of a documentary he watched that said Barbadians have the highest instances of asthma in the world. Apparently, the documentary gave this theory - the slaves they brought from Africa had something in their lungs that killed off parasites in the air. When they - the slaves, not the parasites - were removed from their native atmosphere and brought hither and yon, the whatever in the lungs didn't have anything to kill off anymore and started killing off the lung itself. It would be interesting to find out if anyone's studying that. Will have to google it one day.
Blood Tests
Also, a couple of weeks ago, I had some blood work done. When the results came in and the doctor's office called, the receptionist was all, can you come in today? Being as I was also waiting on the results from the pulmonary test, I suggested it would be better to wait until then so that I didn't have to make two trips. The receptionist was all NO! You need to come now! Okaaaaaaaaay, I thought.
So, now I have diabetes. I have to confess when the doctor told me, I couldn't stop laughing. The poor man looked like he was contemplating getting me a sedative. It's just... Honestly, I'm not even surprised anymore. Whatever universe. Whatever.
So now I have an appointment in a couple of weeks to go to Richmond Hospital for a diabetes workshop thingy where they will teach me how to use the poking your finger and measuring your sugar machine and what I can't eat and whatnots. Did you know that bananas have 5 tablespoons of sugar??? Actually most of the fruit I like is high in sugar. Yippee. And California rolls will have to be a thing of the past. Yay.
Work
Blah. My boss is being more annoying than usual. I guess now that she's finally got it that I'm not buying the business she's resorted to pouting in the childish way of being totally whiny and bitchy and blah. The clients are all asking me what the problem is. So professional. Be so stupid that even your clients notice. I mentioned to her that several people have been asking me about the business and I've been telling them whatever and maybe she should send out another letter to let people know what's actually going on and you know what she said? She said, I don't have the resources to do that right now. Like WHAT resources??? She doesn't have paper? Ink? A brain??? Bah.
Mom
Still loony. This year's tax time will be fun since I don't think she's even attempted to keep track of her slips. I'm thinking I'll probably have to take like a Friday - Monday off sometime and just sort papers non stop to find out what the hell is going on. On the plus side I signed her up for online banking and changed the address of all her bills to my address so at least now things get paid on time. Still no luck on convincing her about the power of attorney thing though.
Co-op
Still plodding along with the interviews. Still being hamstrung by the board. Whatever. I've given up trying to make heads or tails of the bureaucracy As long as I get the application files up to date, I'll be happy.
Hmn. I think that's it for now. Hopefully, it won't get so busy I get this far behind again.
EDIT: I just realized I've been off the antibiotics for over a week now and my cough hasn't come back yet. We'll hope that's that. Of course now that I've mentioned it, I'll probably end up with black lung or something.
