Day 71 - Just Call Me Dudley Do Right
Today my boss was in fine form with her annoying behavior.
She spent the WHOLE day whining about her master card bill. She actually sat at her desk and read out the stuff on her bill to my co-worker and I. Like what the hell??? I don't need to know and frankly I DO NOT CARE. If she wants to spend 3,500 dollars right away, why do I need to know???
She did not need to get her car fixed right then and there. She did not need to spend five hundred dollars on shoes right away. Most of us don't have the luxury of buying or fixing stuff right at the second we need it or it breaks. It was almost like she was gloating about the fact that she had spent so much.
The rest of the day was spent whining about how she was going to have to get lots of billing done to pay for her credit cards. And oh. Yeah. I guess I have to make payroll too. It sickens me that we're like an after thought to her when really, we're the ones that keep her in money so she can waste it on her credit cards.
Then she sleazed her way into getting an extra government subsidy. This on top of the fact that she gets subsidized by the co-op as well. It was such a strange feeling. For one brief moment, I teetered on the brink of the dark side, the surge of hatred was so strong. I'm barely making ends meet and she's getting people to give her hand outs.
Then later that afternoon I got a call from a client who was going to be in the area, could they quickly come by between appointments and pick up their corporate year end and drop off their personal tax stuff. Sure, I said. When I got off the phone, I asked her to make me two labels, since my printer doesn't do that.
Why do you need two labels! I can save one for someone else! I explained to her that the packet of stuff was actually two years in one container so I wanted two labels, one for each year. Well, I can put both years on one label! Why do you need two! So, again I explained that one side of the packet was one year and one side was the other so I would like one label per side so that the person knows which side is which.
Well, she dithered so long the client came and had to stand there waiting, looking at their watch all the while. When the client left she huffed, I hate wasting labels! I had to bite my tongue. This is the same client she charged THIRTEEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS!!! And she can't give her two FREAKING LABELS.
Even with all that though, I had almost made it through without saying anything but at the end of the day she phoned a couple... who are AWAY ON HOLIDAY and left them a message. 'You better fax that slip to us as soon as you get in the office! I'm waiting to send you a bill!" When she got off the phone she remarked, how dare they go away on holiday and not tell me!
I just couldn't help myself. I became Snidely Whiplash for a second and said, maybe they went away on holiday to recover from having to mortgage their organs to pay for the tax you didn't advise them that they'd owe. She pretended not to hear me.
I was never so glad to see a day end.
