Day Three - Westminister Abbey, Trafalgar Square, Statue of Bodicia, & Forbidden Planet
Left for breakfast at 8:50am. It was delicious as usual. Love those pastry thingys.
Headed to Paddington station and got off at the Westminster stop. Tube wasn't too bad today. Managed to get seats and it wasn't too crowded.
The day continues...
Had to pay to get into Westminster Abbey. It's huge. We got inside and it struck me. This is a working church. We shouldn't be walking around oggling stuff in the House of the Lord.
There are many burial tombs and monuments. I wonder if people realize that they're walking on dead people. Also, saw a lot of babies. Not sure if I'd bring a kid here. It must be really uncomfortable.
Note: Must look up to see if it says anywhere who is buried at Westminster Abbey.
Got an idea about Prince William when I saw the coronation chair. Is there NO escape from slash????? Babbled about it in the slash notebook.
After we left Westminster, we caught the bus to Trafalgar Square. Took a picture of the Jars at Nelson's column. Couldn't take a picture of Nelson. He's too damn high up :)
Am now sitting in a Pizza Hut. Ordered garlic mushrooms. They are disgusting. Sigh.
Oh well. Had some of the salad bar. Was okay. Buffet only good if you like pizza. Didn't feel like pizza. Eh.
Left Pizza Hut and walked and walked and walked and walked and walked some more. Finally stopped at a Starbucks. Ugh.
Had to buy some bottled water just so I could go to the bathroom. There was only ONE bathroom and there was a line. Waited about ten minutes before it was my turn.
The toilet doesn't flush. Oh yay! What is it with London plumbing???? I'll have to check that next time. Feel sorry for the person after me.
We're still sitting in Starbucks. My feet hurt but not as much as yesterday. I'm trying figure out why that is. Is it the shoes? Or is it the feet?
I've just found out we did actually see the statue of Bodicia. It was the chariot woman. How disappointing.
The statue was so high off the ground you could only see the underside of the horse. Like the Statue of Nelson. Wonder how high they both are.
Left Starbucks and followed their directions which turned out to be wrong. We walked back to Starbucks and continued on from there. Made it to Forbidden Planet.
For those of you who don't know, Forbidden Planet is a place filled with junk :D Has videos, cds, dvds, books, comics, and an unending supply of movie merchandise. Let's hear it for capitalism! HUZZAH!
Bought two books there. The book of the Unicorn and a book on Ancient Warfare. Feet were killing me again. Tube wasn't too bad today. But it was hot!
Made it home. It's really hot in our room. Oh god, I'm going to die.
Babbled with Viccy the Prince William thing. Trying to stay awake since I don't want to wake up ultra early like I did before. Really overheated.
Stood in the shower for awhile which was good but was sweating again the instant I got out. And I broke the toilet seat. Sigh. Poor toilet was not meant for queen sized butts I guess. I hope it doesn't cost the nice cute hotel guy too much to replace.
Have a boil on my thigh. Oh yay! Its started draining though so hopefully it will be gone by tomorrow otherwise walking will be a wonderful exprience tomorrow.
Went to bed at 10:30pm
